Cyprians A Forbin - Online Memorial Website

    Cyprians introduced himself to me when I was pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Brockport, NY. At the time he was a student at SUNY Brockport College. His finances were tight. He lived in a spare, low rent apartment in the village. He participated regularly at Mass and we often talked about how things were going for him as he dealt with the challenges of finishing his undergraduate studies. As obstacles appeared he found ways to get beyond them. He was person of faith, resolve and resiliance. These qualities served him well as he struggled with cancer these last few years.
     After I moved from Brockport to another assignment in 1999, we kept in touch. He was more attentive to maintaining that contact than I was. A highlight came a couple years ago when he came down from Buffalo and stayed with me in our rectory. It gave us a couple of days to talk and enjoy together the Finger Lakes - which to me is God's Country. 
     As his treatment in the cancer hospital in Philadelphia progressed he and his sister, Agnes, kept me updated. I appreciated his trust and faithful friendship.
